It was a milestone of sorts for the North Melbourne and Werribee relationship on Friday night.

With the single alignment now in place, several Kangaroos' players were able to join in a Tigers' training session with some added match simulation.

12 North-listed players took part, among them Brad McKenzie, Trent Dumont, Robbie Nahas, Kayne Turner and Farren Ray.

Werribee coach John Lamont said there were some encouraging signs from the session.

“There’s some great synergies between the group ... the game plan is virtually the same," Lamont told NMFC.com.au.

“We’re [Werribee-listed players] probably not as advanced as the North blokes at this stage, as you’d expect, but overall we’re pleased with where we’re at.”

Of the Roos' contingent, Will Fordham showcased the hard running that has already become his trademark, with Braydon Preuss continuing his development in the ruck.

Draftees Mitch Hibberd, Corey Wagner and Declan Mountford were all lively during the session.

With the relationship in place for the foreseeable future, Lamont will be able to provide more hands-on feedback on a larger portion of the Kangaroos’ list.

"Historically, it’s been six or seven North-listed blokes in the team - that might become double that, 12 to 14 in there. There’s going to be a bigger influence of the North guys," Lamont said.

“I’ll be a little bit more involved in reviews earlier in the week, so there’ll be some good communication going on and we’ll know where we need to get to.”
