He's the only player on the Roos' list to have tasted premiership success and now Brent Harvey wants more.

Entering his 19th season, “Boomer” has told the Herald Sun North is “here to win a premiership” this season.

Only weeks away from turning 36, Harvey will play his 363rd game on Friday against Essendon at Etihad Stadium.

“I feel better about this season than any other (under coach Brad Scott),’’ he said.

“For me, and I hope every other player at the North Melbourne Football Club, we are here to win a premiership this year.

“Just in the way Brad has gone about pre-season in his fifth season and guys like Ben Cunnington, Ryan Bastinac, Shaun Atley, Jamie Macmillan and Jack Ziebell have all played 40-60 games together.

“That is a really important page for the football club when you get a core group of young players coming through together. They start to understand each other and so do we.

“We are at a really good stage in our development and had a really, really good pre-season. I’m still eager to play in another premiership and hopefully help the other boys achieve that as well.”

Harvey posed for a photo with Bomber veteran Dustin Fletcher, who will break the all time games record for Essendon.

“You see a lot of players get to the end and they are just going, but Fletcher is just as important now as he was 10 years ago.

“I admire him from afar, the way he gets to every contest and his impact with those long arms.

“We have played on each other for a few minutes here and there but never in a proper match-up.”

Harvey was 21 in 1999 when North won its fourth flag has played in just nine finals since for two wins. He had yet another consistent season in 2013 and says there's no reason why this year will be any different.

“I back my ability every week and once I start questioning that, it will be a sign,’’ Harvey said.

“Anyway, my coach will be the first to let me know.

“But I don’t feel I dropped off in any part of my game last year. My training is the same as it has always been. I could get days off if I asked, but I actually enjoy the aspect of training.

“Because I finished last year feeling so good mentally and physically, I will be putting my hand up every week.”
