Superstar forward Lance Franklin could miss Saturday night’s clash with North Melbourne, as a result of the bruised heel that has plagued him for the last month.

‘Buddy’ missed the Swans’victory over Geelong on Saturday, and could be set for an extended spell on the side lines as Sydney look to give him every opportunity to fully recover.

Sydney coach John Longmire told SEN a decision on Franklin would be made later in the week, and the club is wary of putting too much strain on his body.

"(Franklin) was walking around fine on Friday but it is something we're mindful of," Longmire said.

"We don't want to get in the cycle of playing him every week and not being able to train him, which was the cycle we were in from Round 1.

"So we're conscious of that, we're conscious of making sure it doesn't put pressure on other parts of his body and we'd like him obviously to get right."

Franklin isn’t the only big-name-Swan that could miss, with midfielder Dan Hannebury another potential omission.

"If he (Hannebury) was to miss this week, you wouldn't be completely surprised," Longmire said.

"He hasn't been ruled out yet either so we'll let that unfold as the days progress."
