Despite a disappointing loss to the Power on Saturday, there were still some encouraging performances from a fantasy perspective.
North Media reviews the best on the day in AFL Fantasy, and what they can bring to your team.
Todd Goldstein | Week 6 Score - 95 | Average - 84.5 | $576,000 (-9k/-$34k season) | Ownership - 3.75%
Todd Goldstein had a season-high 38 hit-outs in the clash, and this resulted in an unsurprisingly strong fantasy showing.
Goldstein also had 15 disposals and 4 marks contributing to his score of 95.
On his day, Goldstein is one of the premium ruckmen in the competition, and he is very reasonably priced at $576,000.
If you’re looking for a dependable ruck without paying overs, Goldstein could be your man.
Ben Cunnington | Week 6 Score - 88 | Average - 91.2 | $626,000 (+$7k/-$6k season) | Ownership - 0.28%
North’s ‘Mr Consistent’ Ben Cunnington rarely has a bad game, as the nickname reference suggests.
The tough-going midfielder posted another 85+ score on the back of 27 possessions (18 contested) and 4 tackles.
As mentioned last week, Cunnington’s reliability is a valuable fantasy asset, and he has now scored 85+ in five of his six games.
His ownership is still remarkably low at 0.28%, so he could prove to be the difference in your midfield.
Ryan Clarke | Week 6 Score - 83 | Average - 70.5 | $475,000 (+$19k/-9k season) | Ownership - 0.7%
Ryan Clarke is starting to build a reputation as ball winner off half-back, and another 23 disposals on Saturday took his average disposals to 19.7.
He also took 5 marks and made 5 tackles to go with his 23 touches, on his way to a fantasy score of 83.
Consistency has previously been an issue for Clarke, but his form in recent weeks suggest he is finding plenty of the ball - a desirable trait for fantasy coaches.
Jy Simpkin | Week 6 Score - 77 | Average - 53.2 | $347,000 (+$3k/+$2k season) | Ownership - 0.4%
Although the result didn’t go North’s way, one of the positives was Jy Simpkin.
Playing more midfield minutes, Simpkin equalled his career high of 22 disposals, and laid a career-high tackles on the way to the highest fantasy score of his career so far (77).
Listed as a forward in game, Simpkin has found himself more involved in the midfield, which is great news for fantasy players.
Simpkin is priced on the cheap side at $347,000, and with his low ownership, he is showing plenty of up-side.
Majak Daw | Week 6 Score - 75 | Average - 62.8 | $406,000 (+8k/+$12k season) | Ownership - 2.13%
Daw is a valuable dual-position-player, but unusually neither of the positions he is available for selection for in your team is where is currently playing.
Daw has taken to his new defensive role like a duck to water, but pick him up in AFL Fantasy and he is able to slot into either your ruck stocks or forward lines.
Despite this discrepancy, Daw is beginning to score well.
Daw's 75 was his highest of the season so far, and was on the back of 14 disposals, 5 marks and 4 tackles,
Daw’s dual-position status is valuable, and he’s now finding himself a regular fixture so could prove an astute buy.
