They both received heavy knocks during the game, but nothing could stop midfield duo Levi Greenwood (30 possessions, 4 tackles) and Jordan Gysberts (23 possessions, 2 tackles) in Werribee’s resounding 92-point win over Bendigo.

The pair continuing a recent run of good form for the Tigers according to development coach John Lamont.

“Levi worked really hard again and had over 30 touches and 5 marks. He got a knock to his hip, as did Gysberts, but both of them got through it.

“Gysberts was good early...in particular he used the ball pretty well. Both Levi and Jordan had pretty good games but the defensive side of things is still an ongoing focus for improvement, as it is for the rest of the group.”

Ayden Kennedy (19 possessions and 6 marks) worked hard in defence, finishing the match strongly.

“Ayden had some good penetration in the game, he defended well but other times, was a little slow to react. He’s just continually working to be really alert to get onto those opportunities to defend and cut his opponent out of the game.”

Lamont was also pleased with rookie Tim McGenniss’ (23 possessions) work-rate.

“Tim had some good run through the middle of the ground and did some nice work on the inside. He’s continuing to improve, which as a rookie you’re always working to do. He ran really well all day.”

Ben Speight (15 possessions, 1 goal) played well in a forward/wing role, despite one quiet term.

“Speighty did some good things except for the third quarter where he found himself not having much involvement in the game. But we’ll go back and have a look at what happened there and work it out. He kicked a couple of good goals and did pretty well,” Lamont said.

First year forward Mason Wood showed more impressive signs.

“Mason had a slow first quarter but really picked up after that. He ended up with about 20 possessions, kicked a couple of nice goals in a solid effort. He’ll continue to work on his consistency, his ability to stay in the game and work on his defensive side for when he doesn’t have the footy.”

Daniel Currie and Kieran Harper (17 possessions, 1 goal) both made successful returns from injury after missing five and three weeks respectively.

“Currie finished with 45 hit-outs and dominated the ruck for the majority of the game,” Lamont added.

“He spoiled the ball well but he’s just got to gain a bit more confidence in his hand. He lacked a little bit of touch but he’s really fit so his running and everything was really good. He did very well after missing five weeks.

“Harps (Harper) did a lot of good things but was still a little unsteady with the ankle. It was good for him to get through and get the game under his belt.

“It worked well having him come back this week, Bendigo are a bit of a younger side and haven’t won a game just yet so it was a perfect game for Harper and Currie to come back and make their return.”

Development coach Jarred Moore continues to impress in Tigers colours with yet another stunning best on ground performance, racking up 39 possessions, 9 marks and 2 goals.
