The North Melbourne Football Club will pay tribute to two of its champions, Phil and Jim Krakouer at Sunday's home game against the Suns.
Having booted almost 500 majors between them, it's only fitting that the signage behind the goals at either end of Etihad Stadium will be renamed after the brilliant Krakouer brothers, as part of NAIDOC Week.
NAIDOC Week (which originally stood for ‘National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee’), which begins on July 8, celebrates the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across Australia.
Showcasing an exciting brand of football, the brothers' skill and ability to kick goals made for great football.
In their second season at North, in 1983, the pair kicked 44 goals each as the club's leading goal-kickers.
1986 saw Jim awarded the Roos' best and fairest.
From 1985 to 1988 the brothers alternated as the leading goal-kicker for the club.
Phil played 141 games and booted 224 goals as a North player, while Jim booted 229 goals in 134 matches.
In 2005, Jim was named to the Indigenous Team of the Century. He was also added to the Roos' Team of the Century in 2009.
Tickets to Sunday’s match are available at Ticketmaster. Kids under 15 come FREE* - terms and conditions apply.
