Lindsay Thomas will play his first game of VFL in almost three years on Saturday.
The forward was omitted from the North Melbourne side and will take his place for the Roosters at Box Hill.
Thomas’ last VFL match resulted in a six-goal haul, while a similar VFL stint in 2011 saw a bag of nine goals.
With wet conditions forecast over the weekend, Thomas should be in his element with the game at ground level.
Trent Dumont also returns to the Roosters for increased game time after several matches as the substitute. He has had big games in the wet before and could be primed for another this weekend.
Aaron Black and Brad McKenzie have been rounding into form in recent weeks; the forward starting to hit the scoreboard regularly while the midfielder is coming off his best game of the year.
Meanwhile at Werribee, Majak Daw returns to strengthen the Tigers’ forward line. Daw replaces Ben Brown, recalled to the Kangaroos after kicking four goals last week.
Eric Wallace has been excelling in his role as ruck in Daniel Currie’s absence, notching 39 hit-outs against Coburg.
All three Kangaroos’ emergencies are aligned with Werribee, meaning one will likely be withdrawn to provide cover for the clash at Etihad Stadium.
