North Melbourne ruckman Todd Goldstein says years of hard work on his fitness is now paying dividends.
The Roos' big man has impressed many with his start to the season so far, and he told SEN’s Morning Glory he was more than happy taking on the lion’s share of ruck duties from week-to-week.
"I’ve worked pretty hard on my fitness since I got the club and it’s nice to reap the rewards of that," Goldstein said.
"The more I play this role – I’ve been doing it for three or four years now – the more my body is getting used to the rigours of it and it is allowing me to run out games much, much better."
With North having now won two of its first four games, the 26-year-old said Sunday’s win over Geelong showed what his side was capable of.
"The way the competition is this year, you can’t afford to be even half a step off your game," Goldstein said.
"You know you’ve got to bring your A-game every week. If we keep playing to the way we want to play, the results will generally go our way."

Goldstein also had special praise for debutant Trent Dumont, who impressed with his strong start as a substitute in the 16-point win.
"The work ethic that ‘Froggy’ (Dumont) has shown since he got to the club has been immense," he said.
"We knew that he needed an opportunity. It’s been a hard midfield to crack in to, so we knew when he came on he was going to have an impact."
