Key forward Ben Brown has been named in the initial 47-man 2015 AFL Players’ Association 22Under22 squad.
The AFL Players introduced the 22Under22 concept in 2013 to recognise the best young talent in the competition, as decided by the fans. To be eligible for the 2015 edition, players must be aged 22 or younger on Grand Final Day.
The final 22Under22 team will be decided by the general public, with the AFL Players’ Association calling on all footy fans to cast their votes by liking the AFL Players’ Facebook page and selecting a 22Under22 team from the 47-man squad.
Although Brown only made his AFL debut in Round 14, 2014, he has already become an integral part of the Kangaroos’ side.
In his 28 appearances, North has ended victorious on 22 occasions. Meanwhile the five games he’s missed have all resulted in losses with the side struggling to hit the scoreboard.
The Roos have only averaged 68 points per game without Brown in the side; the number soaring to 102 when the Tasmanian has taken the field.
The 22-year-old has had a consistent 2015, kicking 27 goals in his 17 appearances, including six bags of three or more. The highlight of the season so far, his standout four goal performance against Essendon in Round 16 at Etihad Stadium.
The final 22Under22 team will be announced at the AFL Players’ MVP Awards on Tuesday, September 15.
You can vote for Brown by submitting your 22Under22 team via the AFL Players’ Facebook page before Wednesday, September 9. Everyone who enters a team will have a chance to win the ultimate 22Under22 prize pack.
