It’s midday on a Thursday and Jarrad Waite is still in his North Melbourne pyjamas!
Yes, it’s the players’ day off, but Waite hasn’t slept in … instead, he’s partaking in one of the Good Friday Appeal’s most vital initiatives.
Accompanied by St Kilda’s Josh Battle and Rowan Marshall, the Kangaroos’ star visited North Melbourne Primary School for PJ Day.
Schools throughout Victoria are being encouraged to stage PJ Days, taking gold coin donations towards the Appeal.
“We’re so excited to be a part of PJ day,” Waite said.
“It’s a great way for schools to get involved and support the incredible work of the Royal Children’s Hospital.”
Waite will play his first Good Friday game against the Saints in Round 2.
“I missed out through injury last year, so I’m really pumped to get a chance to be a part of the match this year. It’s an incredible atmosphere and a great cause,” he said.
$5 from every ticket sold will be donated directly back to the appeal and children under 15 can enter the game for free.
Families are encouraged to attend and enjoy the match day events taking place, from face-painting and colouring-in to a half-time musical performance.
