Tom Curran and Max Warren weren’t lazing around on the final weekend off before the start of the season, instead traveling to Hobart on Sunday to support families, emergency service workers and volunteers affected by the Tasmanian bushfires.

The True Island Spirit Event, run by the local government, was put together to celebrate the outstanding community goodwill displayed during the devastating fires.  The players signed autographs, kicked the footy and got everyone excited by the Kangaroos' matches at Blundstone Arena.

“It was a really good day to honour all the hard work by the emergency service workers, firies, ambos and the families who were impacted by the fires,” Curran told NMFC.com.au.

“It was nice to get down to Salamanca for such a family orientated event. Hobart is obviously a second home for us now but not just for footy, we love to get out in the community and support them in any way we can. Even though it's only small, it is important to have a presence wherever we can.”

The players also gave away 10 free double passes to the Round 3 match against Sydney, which is close to selling out, with only around 1,000 general admission tickets still remaining.

“The people who won the tickets were all pretty rapt...We even had supporters coming up to me and Max asking how to buy their tickets,” Curran said.

“Everyone seems excited to have us down here, they love having footy in their state.”

Tickets for the Kangaroos' Round 6 match against Port Adelaide are also on sale to North members, with tickets to the general public available from Wednesday, 27th March.
