North Melbourne is hopeful Jarrad Waite will be available for selection for Saturday night's clash against the Saints.
Waite missed the Roos' win over Collingwood, with his hip complaint keeping him sidelined.
Coach Brad Scott said the key-forward was close to playing last week, so was hopeful he could be named in the side for Brent Harvey’s record breaking game.
"He's going well. He didn't miss by much last week but we took a very cautious approach because we need him at his best, "Scott said.
"When he's out there, we need to make sure he can do all the things that everyone knows he can do.
"He'll train today and I think he's a really good chance, but I can't categorically say whether he'll play or not."
Scott confirmed Drew Petrie would be "fine" to play despite a hand problem seeing him don a glove at training.
Meanwhile, Mitch Hibberd and Ed Vickers-Willis trained on Wednesday, with the club hopeful they’d both line up for Werribee this weekend.
Vickers-Willis was a late withdrawal for Werribee on Saturday, while Hibberd has been sidelined with a displacement of the knee cap suffered earlier this month.
