Young ruck Taylor Goad has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him at North Melbourne until at least the end of 2028.

Goad, who is the tallest player on North Melbourne's list at 207cm, landed at Arden Street from South Australia with pick No.20 in the 2023 AFL Draft.

The 19-year-old was considering a college basketball career before choosing to pursue football just 12 months before being drafted by the Roos.

While he went untried at senior level during his first year at the club, Goad played all 18 games in the reserves, gaining valuable experience in the ruck early in the season and later as a tall defender.

“During his time at the club, Taylor has really impressed with his attitude, eagerness to learn and speed that belies his height," North Melbourne head of football talent Brady Rawlings said.

“He has already taken some great strides in his development, and we look forward to watching him develop further over the next few years."

Goad is the third player from the Roos’ 2023 draft class to extend their time at the club, joining Wil Dawson and Riley Hardeman, who both signed on at the end of last season until 2026.
