North Melbourne and AFL Tasmania are teaming up to assist football clubs affected by flooding in North and North-West Tasmania.
In June, the region suffered the worst flooding in 40 years, causing devastation and havoc. Football clubs including Forth, Deloraine and East Launceston Juniors suffered damage to their club-rooms, playing facilities and equipment as a result.
On Saturday at Blundstone Arena, volunteers, including representatives from the affected clubs and the Kangaroos’ Next Generation Academy will be collecting donations to help rebuild the affected clubs.
North’s Managing Director and CEO Carl Dilena said the club was proud to support the relief effort.
“Sadly we know there have been plenty of people directly impacted by these floods, as well as North Melbourne fans across the state, and we are urging everyone to get behind those who were hit hard,” Dilena said.
“Anyone coming to the game this weekend is urged to dig deep and show their support for those doing it tough.
“The North Melbourne family always rallies around those needing support, and we’re pleased to be doing that as part of our game at Blundstone Arena this weekend.”
If you can’t get to the game, donations can be made online.
