On a cold Friday night in Tasmania, North Melbourne got the four points in a strong AFL Fantasy performance.
The biggest fantasy news of the game took place 90 minutes before the game with Todd Goldstein pulling out.
Goldstein’s withdrawal would’ve hurt quite a few coaches, especially those without any bench cover for him.
However, even without its main ruckman, the North Melbourne midfield dominated from a fantasy perspective.
Let’s look at how they performed in this week’s top five from the Fantasy preview.
1. Andrew Swallow ($453,000, MID)
Swallow had a fantastic game on Friday night, finishing with 111 points which included 44 points from tackles.
This makes back to back scores over 100 for Swallow and it’s the first time he’s done that this season.
Swallow is averaging 86 points per game in 2016, but has averaged 90 points in the last six, including four 100’s.
2. Jack Ziebell ($489,000, MID)
Ziebell had a strong score of 103 against the Tigers, with the midfielder having a fantastic all-round game.
The vice-captain collected 30 disposals and laid four tackles in what was one of his better fantasy performances of the year.
He’s averaged 99 points this season and considering his price, that makes him very tempting.
3. Brent Harvey ($418,000, MID/FWD)
Harvey has only had one game above 100 points this season which is why it’s a shame he finished on 99 points on Friday.
The veteran has a strong average of 85, which shows that his scoring has been consistent, but not spectacular this year.
His four goals against Richmond greatly contributed to his above-average score.
4. Drew Petrie ($304,000, FWD)
Petrie produced his best score of the year, racking up 82 points – 27 of which from marks.
Key forwards often struggle from a fantasy standpoint as the fade out of games and Petrie did so in the third quarter, only scoring nine points.
He was dominant in the other three quarters, scoring 73 points and kicking a goal.
5. Jarrad Waite ($422,000, FWD)
Waite has hit a fantasy form slump in the last few weeks, averaging 72 points over his last five games.
After a blistering start to the season, it would appear Waite’s days as a premium-calibre Fantasy forward are done.
As already mentioned, key forwards are risky selections and Waite relies heavily on goals scored and marks to get his scoring up.
Hopefully he can bounce back next week against Geelong.
