AFL Fantasy is back for another year, and the team at Footy Prophet will again be supplying NMFC.com.au with premium fantasy analysis and tips for the 2016 season.
North Melbourne picked up another win on the weekend against Fremantle and now sit on top of the ladder as the only undefeated side. It also saw some quality fantasy performances from its elite players along the way.
In what was an even game, the Kangaroos put together one of the best collective team fantasy performances of the year. Six players scored more than 100 with another eight scoring 80+.
Overall, the team scored 1865 points with an average score of 85, well above what you’d expect from an entire team.
Here’s how North Melbourne’s Fantasy top five from last week’s preview fared.
1. Jack Ziebell (MID, $519,000)
After equalling the all-time tackle record last week, Ziebell only racked up the four tackles this week but still finished with a massive 126 points.
This week, his points came from his 26 disposals, seven marks and three goals.
Ziebell is averaging 107 points for the year and has been a fantasy machine over the last three weeks.
2. Jarrad Waite (FWD, $511,000)
Jarrad Waite, for the fourth successive week, has put on a large score and it’s getting harder and harder to think of reasons not to select him.
He’s averaging 114 points for the season and is collecting large numbers in the marks and tackles column each week, scoring in a consistent manner.
Waite is becoming one of the premium fantasy forwards in the competition.
3. Brent Harvey (FWD/MID, $476,000)
Harvey continued his strong fantasy start to the year with 83 points on the weekend, despite being quiet at times during the match.
Boomer is averaging 95 points for the season and given the lack of quality forwards so far this year, he should be someone to strongly consider bringing in to your team.
4. Todd Goldstein (RUCK, $591,000)
Goldstein had a run-of-the-mill week by his standards, scoring 96 points and controlling the ruck battle for most of the day.
Just under half of his score came from hit-outs and despite having 17 disposals, he didn’t pile on the points as much as was expected against a Fremantle without Aaron Sandilands.
At the end of the day, 96 points is still a great score and Goldstein continues to be the most reliable ruckman in the competition.
5. Andrew Swallow (MID, $441,000)
Swallow hasn’t really been a standout Fantasy scorer since 2012 and things haven’t changed this year with his average sitting at 77 points.
Swallow scored 82 on the weekend with 44 of them coming from tackles.
The fact that the skipper scored a solid 82 points and came in last on this week’s top five shows how strong a week it was for the North Melbourne Football Club.
