Geelong midfielder Jimmy Bartel will miss Sunday's match after injuring his knee against the Gold Coast.
The 31-year-old underwent scans on Monday and is set to be out for at least two months with a tear in the medial ligament in his left knee.
Bartel was hurt when Suns' midfielder Michael Rischitelli slid low to win a contested ball and his knee bent under pressure.
The Cats will also be sweating on the fitness of Matthew Stokes (achilles) and Tom Lonergan (concussion).
Stokes is considered unlikely to play against North, with Chris Scott saying he wouldn't be attempting to make an early diagnosis on Lonergan.
A decision on his availability for round four is likely later in the week.
