At the end of each season, there is the obligatory discussion about who could take “Charlie” home. Footy fans stretch their memories back to games played several months prior in an effort to identify their club’s best chance at winning the coveted award.
This year NMFC.com.au is asking for your help to determine the three best players from each game and you can vote in the Mazda Spirit Awards for your best three Kangaroos.

Two of the three voting slots available from Saturday night seem all but locked in after the performances of Patrick Dangerfield and Joel Selwood. That leaves one up for grabs.
Here is the case for each of the players in the running for the votes, in alphabetical order. We’ll pick our 3-2-1, then you can have your say.
Patrick Dangerfield – Geelong
48 disposals, 13 clearances, 13 marks and 11 inside 50’s has Dangerfield surely locked in to three votes.
Sam Gibson – NMFC
Labelled as North’s best midfielder by Brad Scott after the match, the tireless Gibson simply never stopped working. His 34 disposals were a team-high, and he also had seven inside 50’s.
Brent Harvey – NMFC
Harvey’s brilliant first half was one of the key reasons North was able to take a lead into the rooms. He finished with four goals and 16 disposals for the night.
The veteran is now only six goals short of tying John Longmire for second all-time in North Melbourne history.
Daniel Menzel – Geelong
Of Geelong’s mid-sized forwards, Menzel was the most damaging. His four goals – three of them in the second half – all came at important times and helped break the game open for the Cats.
Joel Selwood – Geelong
A 38-possession game has flown under the radar somewhat. Selwood’s efforts were every bit as impressive as Dangerfield inside, with eight clearances – six of them from the centre.
