Adelaide ruckman Sam Jacobs is confident he has fully recovered from his ankle injury that kept him sidelined at the end of the home-and-away season.
Jacobs missed matches in Round 20 and 21, but after two games back and an extra week’s recovery with the bye, he’s fit and firing ahead of Saturday night’s Elimination Final.
"I'm really happy where it's (the ankle) at," Jacobs said.
"Having that extra week off against Fremantle (in round 21) has enabled it to recover that little bit extra rather than if I rushed back.
"I don't like watching from the sideline, so it was hard when the doc said we're going to give it one more, but I'll back him in and it's all about playing finals and playing well at this time of the year."
Jacobs will face off against North big man Todd Goldstein in the cut-throat final, with the pair having some terrific battles in recent years.
"I love playing against Toddy, we've built a pretty good relationship playing against each other for so long," Jacobs said.
"It's the third time we get him this year so it'll be another good challenge for both of us.
"Hopefully I can get the edge and give our midfielders first use of the ball."
Both Jacobs and Goldstein are statistically among the league’s top ruckmen, arguably splitting the points in their two head-to-head battles this year.
"I probably broke even in the first three quarters (in Round 1), then he (Goldstein) was able to elevate in the last quarter and he was able to take some contested marks," Jacobs said.
"When we played at Adelaide Oval (in round 14), I was able to take some marks, but neither (of us) was able to dominate that night."
Jacobs admits he had his colours lowered by the Eagles’ Jonathan Giles last week, and is desperate to bounce back.
"I was pretty disappointed with my game," he added.
"There were a few areas where I didn't play as well as I would have liked.
"I got caught on the bench a little bit when he was able to dominate on the ground, but he played well and full credit to him."
