Quotes

“I’ve really enjoyed the studies because they’ve taken my mind off footy, which can be exactly what you need at times.” – Macmillan on life away from footy

“We’ve always taken on a fair bit of responsibility as leaders but next year it’ll go to a whole new level because we don’t have that upper bracket there.” – Macmillan talking about 2017

What the coach said – Brad Green

“He had a very consistent year, and he was terrific in some games, especially later in the season.

“He played a little bit on the wing and half-back earlier in the year, and he’s a very smart footballer.

“I can see him being one of the better half-backs in the competition in the next year or two because he creates great run and drive in our offensive play.

“He had some hard roles this year. When you lose Sam (Wright) and Luke (McDonald), we had to throw him on smaller forwards and on the last line, and that’s tough when you haven’t played there that much.

“The way he communicates and plays to the structure we want down back is very important, and he’s good at organising all of that.

“In our line and team meetings, he’ll also direct and give an insight into the players’ perspective.”
