Wins to North Melbourne and Werribee saw plenty of players find form, but a huge task looms against the Crows and selection will again be all important on Thursday.
NMFC.com.au looks at those in the mix for a call-up.
Defenders
With Aaron Mullett out due to injury, North will look to strengthen its back half.
Luke McDonald could move back to defence to fill the void, or the Roos could opt for another tall with Sam Durdin among those waiting in the wings.
Midfielders
Andrew Swallow responded strongly to his omission with a good performance for Werribee, while Ryan Clarke was the match-day emergency, suggesting he’s not far from a recall.
Mitch Hibberd and Declan Mountford were both in Werribee’s best, while ruckman Braydon Preuss could be recalled if North wants to stretch the Crows’ Sam Jacobs with a two-pronged approach in the ruck.
Forwards
A best-on-ground performance in the VFL wouldn’t have done Lindsay Thomas’ chances of a call-up any harm.
The question is, who goes out? North’s small-forwards played a key role in the victory over the Suns, so it could be tough to get back in.
Corey Wagner has also been a consistent performer for Werribee and will no doubt get a chance at some stage.
The Roos would welcome the return of another key-forward, with Jarrad Waite a chance of coming back from injury if he gets through training later in the week.
