Australian Rules Football is a game for everyone, no matter where you come from or who you are.

That philosophy brought North Melbourne's Majak Daw and Western Bulldogs' Jason Johannisen together on a crisp, sunny morning at Etihad stadium, both proudly carrying their flags of origin to mark the inaugural Harmony Game.

“I think it’s great to celebrate the diversity in Australia,” Daw told the media.

“Using the game as a vehicle to share and celebrate culture as well as to include people in our community, is a powerful thing.”

The Harmony Game is an initiative of North and the Bulldogs and aims to celebrate the diverse cultures that play, support, and umpire the game.

In addition, it highlights the contribution multicultural communities have made to football and both clubs' histories, while welcoming new communities to the game.

“At North Melbourne, we pride ourselves on social inclusion and progression, particularly through the work our not-for-profit community arm, The Huddle," North CEO & managing director Carl Dilena said.

"It’s fantastic to have the Harmony Game to celebrate and represent our many multicultural communities."

As part of celebrations for the 2018 Harmony Game, the North and the Bulldogs will hold a flag ceremony pre-game that celebrates 10 countries that have a major presence through our community, community programs and around Victoria.

There will be giant flags walked around the ground by members of each country along with Chinese Lion dancers, music and other entertainment. Make sure you are in your seats to witness this incredible performance highlighting North Melbourne and the Western Bulldog’s diverse communities.

North Melbourne and the Bulldogs will also play a VFL curtain raiser at Etihad at 3.20pm, before the Harmony Game commences at 7.25pm.
