North Melbourne will take on Fremantle in Perth to open its 2019 campaign.
The Kangaroos have drawn the Dockers on Sunday, March 24 at 6.20pm AEDT (3.20pm local).
North will have no fears of playing at the stadium, after becoming the first Victorian team to win at the venue last season, when the side took down Fremantle in Round 10, winning 86-58. It was the Dockers’ first loss to a travelling side at the venue.
Ben Cunnington (20 disposals) and Shaun Higgins (24) were North’s standouts on the ball, while Jarrad Waite booted three goals, and Ben Brown and Mason Wood had two apiece.
It's the second consecutive season North has travelled for Round 1 after last year's Cairns debacle, when a tropical storm and monsoonal rain almost forced the game to be called off.
