Shaun Higgins believes North’s poor tackling was one of the main reasons behind his side’s disappointing showing on Saturday afternoon.
North laid just 46 tackles compared to Collingwood’s 82 despite priding itself on contested ball.
“The Pies beat us at the pressure game,” the veteran midfielder told Game Day.
“Brad (Scott) mentioned it after the match, 80-odd tackles to 40-odd tackles is clearly not good enough and it’s something that we’ll have to address during the week.”
Higgins said the Pies’ pressure was evident from the opening bounce.
“I think it’s two-fold. When you don’t apply pressure and they apply it to you then (it makes it hard),” Higgins said.
“I think we had 18 tackles to half-time and that’s not our game.
“We need 22 guys to play their role, we need pressure on the football.
“We didn’t do that on Saturday and we got taught a lesson.”
North will have to fix its ways quickly ahead of its clash with West Coast on Sunday at Blundstone Arena.
