North Melbourne has received another boost with Gold Coast's Aaron Hall nominating the Kangaroos as his club of choice in the upcoming trade period.
The out of contract midfielder is looking for a fresh start, having played just six games for the Suns this year due to injury.
“I have played 100 games and haven’t looked like playing finals and that has been a massive driver for me in this decision,” Hall told the Herald Sun.
“I thought North were probably going to be down the lower part of the ladder this year, but the way the young guys came in and the way the star players performed, I reckon they have gained lot of confidence.
“Hopefully I can help make them a better team with my attributes.”
The Tasmania link also proving to be a lure as well as the prospect of playing in a formidable midfield under Brad Scott.
“I think I play my best football as an inside mid and Brad says he sees me as that type of player,” he said.
“I’m looking to get better and I’m looking to improve and I really think I can do that and become a more consistent player under his coaching."
Its been a frustrating year for the 27-year-old who injured his pectoral muscle.
“This year I had two surgeries, I broke a finger in the pre-season and missed Round 1 and then I tore my pec off the bone.
“But that’s come along well, and my eyes are set on Round 1 2019.
“I think that fresh start in new colours will probably bring the best out of me.”
North GM football Cameron Joyce welcomed the news of Hall's intention to sign with North.
“We're rapt to have received word that Aaron intends to join us in the trade period, provided we can reach a deal with Gold Coast - which we anticipate doing,” North GM football Cameron Joyce said.
Hall was born in Hobart, Tasmania, and has played 103 games since being selected with pick 7 in the 2012 pre-season Draft.
Hall's announcement comes after North learned highly fancied Port Adelaide wingman, Jared Polec, committed to a move to Arden St.
“Adding Aaron from the Suns and Jared Polec from the Power to our midfield group gives us some more run and flexibility," Joyce added.
“We believe Aaron's best footy is ahead of him and we expect him to really flourish at Arden Street. We're excited about having him on board with us.
"The past few weeks has been very exciting for us and our fans."
Hall has booted 76 career goals, showing his ability to push forward and impact the scoreboard. He had breakout seasons in 2016 and 2017 where he averaged more than 25 disposals.
