An disappointing performance on Saturday night meant average results for fantasy coaches.
The Kangaroos went down to the reigning premiers by ten goals in the end, and not a single player managed to hit triple figures in AFL Fantasy.
Brent Harvey was North’s best as he has been so many times in the past. The 389-game champion gathered 30 disposals, his most in any game this year, as well as wining three clearances.
Harvey's score of 96 points for the game was his highest for 2015.
Another highlight for the Roos was the good form of Mason Wood. In just his fifth AFL game, the youngsters had 22 disposals and eight marks.
Wood finished with 91 points for the night, the highest fantasy score of his short career so far. He’s averaging 82 points per game over the three full games so far this year.
At $313,000 in AFL Fantasy Classic Wood is a little awkwardly priced at the moment, a bit too high to be of great value.
However, for those looking at add a forward to their list in AFL Fantasy Elite he’d be a great pickup.
Two of North’s established fantasy stars had rough nights; Todd Goldstein was a bit worse for wear after copping a hit from Jordan Lewis but still managed to rack up an impressive total of 40 hit-outs. His score of 88 was solid, but not spectacular.
Andrew Swallow also suffered a few knocks during the game and was eventually subbed off following a high tackle from Ben Stratton.
Swallow was busy before he went off, gathering 64 points in 51 per cent of game time from 14 disposals, six tackles and six clearances.
The skipper has been in good form the last few weeks and at $480,000 could be worth a look before the clash against the Tigers.
Around the grounds
Some of the fantasy world’s lesser lights got their chances to shine this week with the top-scorer for the round being none other than Fremantle forward Chris Mayne. He managed 149 points from 18 disposals, 12 tackles, nine marks and four goals.
The Dockers' dominance over Melbourne led to a lot of big scores, with no less than seven of their players hitting triple figures.
Just two other players hit the 140 mark for the week. Tiger Bachar Houli saw plenty of the ball in defence, and Bulldog Liam Picken played a dominant role in the Bulldogs’ thrilling four-point win over Sydney.
The Hawks are likely to be without Jordan Lewis and Luke Hodge for the next few weeks, and that’s bad news for fantasy coaches as well.
Lewis is the highest averaging-player in the league after five weeks, and Hodge the best defender.
