Normally cool, calm and collected, Andrew Swallow simply couldn’t contain his emotions ahead of his first game back from injury on Sunday.

Playing with VFL affiliate North Ballarat in Geelong, the 26-year-old was overwhelmed with anticipation and in some ways, fear.

“To be honest, more nervous than I’ve ever been I reckon…looking forward to getting out there but I suppose it’s always an unknown how you’re going to go,” he admitted to NMFC.com.au.

In Round 18 against Melbourne last year, Swallow ruptured his achilles and was forced to spend a significant amount of time out of the game he loves.

Two hours before the bounce at Simonds Stadium, he was still coming to terms with the fact he was able to undertake his biggest test yet.

“You sort of don’t know whether every thing’s gonna hold up…so that’s probably why the nerves.”
