Mid-season draft recruit Lachlan Hosie couldn’t be more excited to be a North Melbourne player.
The 22-year-old was selected by the club with the fifth pick in the 2019 NAB AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft.
Just two days after being selected, he’ll arrive in Melbourne tomorrow for his first venture to Arden Street.
“I’m over the moon,” Hosie told the Adelaide Advertiser.
“I’d not really thought about the draft to be honest, I just tried to play consistent footy for Glenelg.
“I tried to keep it low key, ignore it and try and help win games for Glenelg.
“I’m stoked to get this opportunity with a great club like North Melbourne.”
For Hosie, his week started like any other, but when clubs started reading out the names of its new recruits, reality kicked in.
“Monday was a pretty long day, I’m not going to lie. I worked with dad to try and keep my mind off it (draft),” he said.
“But once it got to 5pm, the nerves started to kick in. I was not going in with any expectations and if it happened, it happened. It’s crazy, going from working with dad to full-time footballer. I’m so pumped.”
Drafted from Glenelg, Hosie is a mid-sized forward who had kicked 21 goals from his 8 matches in the SANFL this season.
