North fans are hanging out for footy’s return to Arden Street against Hawthorn in February, but before that, there’s another blockbuster on the cards.
Some of the biggest stars of footy and cricket will be in action in Ricky Ponting’s Biggest Game of Cricket, on January 27.
Raising funds for the Ponting Foundation, the T20 match at University of Tasmania Stadium will pit Ponting’s North side against Damien Fleming’s Hawks.
Among those named in the Roos’ squad are Brent Harvey, Jack Ziebell, Glenn Archer and Peter Siddle.
Luke Hodge, Shane Crawford and Jarryd Roughead will lead the charge for Hawthorn.
“I reckon we have a squad capable of dominating the Hawks,” former Australian captain Ponting said.
“I’m really excited about the group we have put together. Five premiership players from the 90’s, a couple of below the radar T20 cricket superstars and a bunch of current players with the right qualities to win this game.”
Siddle’s availability will be reliant on his duties with the Melbourne Renegades.
“I’m a professional cricketer so the Renegades will obviously be my priority,” he said.
“But to have the chance to wear the blue and white, play with Ricky again and line up beside my real sporting heroes; will be a dream come true for me.”
