There was no long weekend for the North players, who battled the Australia Day heat to take part in a match simulation.

The Roos' VFL team were also in action, with every player leaving nothing in the tank.

Among those to impress during the session were 2017 Syd Barker Medalist Shaun Higgins and fellow midfielder Ben Cunnington, while Shaun Atley was brilliant with his run and carry and around the goals late.

Jy Simpkin enjoyed a run through the midfield and was hard at it, while Paul Ahern looked like he hadn't missed a beat, despite missing almost 18 months of football. His class with ball in hand was a highlight on the day.
