The Kangaroos traded a future first-round pick to Richmond to secure Whitlock's selection, along with the Tigers' future second-round pick.

The trade landed the Roos a towering key position prospect capable of playing at both ends of the ground. Whitlock, who forged his skills playing with his twin Jake on the family farm in Shepparton, kicked 27 goals playing for the Murray Bushrangers in 2024. With clean hands, he boasts strong marking as both a defender and forward.

Rookie Draft: Toby Pink (re-listed)

North Melbourne used its No.1 pick in the Telstra AFL Rookie Draft to re-list key position player Toby Pink.

Pink, 26, was moved off the Roos' primary list to give the Roos more options at the 2024 Telstra AFL Draft. He joined North Melbourne as a delisted free agent in October 2023, seven years after he was originally recruited by Sydney as a rookie in 2016.

He played 15 senior games during his first season at Arden Street in 2024, triggering a contract extension for next year.

“We thank Toby for selflessly agreeing to this move to assist the club with our list strategy,” head of football talent Brady Rawlings said when Pink's move to the rookie list was announced in October.
