Cooper Harvey will remain at North Melbourne until at least the end of 2025 after signing a one-year contract extension.

Harvey came to the Kangaroos from the Northern Knights with pick No.56 in the 2022 AFL Draft.

Strong form in the VFL earned him an AFL debut in Round 17, 2023, against Geelong at GMHBA Stadium, where he also kicked his first goal in League football.

Harvey played another two senior games before a shoulder injury saw his first season at Arden Street come to a close.

An ankle injury curtailed the start of his 2024 campaign, but he managed to play 14 games in the club’s VFL team. A 21-possession, three-goal effort in a win over Collingwood in Round 14 was his stand-out performance at that level.

North Melbourne head of football talent Brady Rawlings said the club was excited to see what the 20-year-old forward could achieve next season.

“Unfortunately, a few injuries have impacted Cooper’s football continuity during his first two seasons at North Melbourne,” Rawlings said.

“We know he’ll be eager to make the most of his opportunities next season, and we look forward to seeing what he can do with another AFL pre-season under his belt and a clear run at it.”

Son of AFL games record-holder Brent, Harvey is one of five current players whose father played senior football at North Melbourne alongside Jackson Archer, Bailey Scott, Luke McDonald and Amy Smith.
