A pair of Roos will push for their first senior appearances of the season, having fully recovered from their respective injuries.

George Wardlaw was cleared of any damage following a rolled ankle in a VFL match simulation on Saturday, and will push to feature on Good Friday.

The 20-year-old notched 21 touches and 13 contested possessions in just three quarters of the Roos’ VFL match against Sydney two weeks ago.

Though likely to continue to ease Wardlaw back in given his previous hamstring injury and stature in the club’s plans, the match committee will surely be tempted after the Roos were beaten for clearances (-3) and contested possessions (-16) by Gold Coast in Gather Round.

Will Phillips is also pushing for a place on the ball, having recorded 25 disposals, 10 tackles, eight clearances and a goal in his last VFL appearance.

Forward Eddie Ford could also get a call-up, having been a staple in senior coach Alastair Clarkson’s North Melbourne teams, but coming off a hamstring injury is likely to build momentum in the reserves.

Omitted for Round 5, Bailey Scott travelled with the team and did not play on the weekend, but could return if the team is re-shuffled, given his reliability on the wing over a period of time.

Robert Hansen jnr was also omitted having featured in the Kangaroos’ first four matches of the season, and presents as a high half-forward or wing option.

Ruck-forward Brynn Teakle also travelled with the team as an emergency having recorded 19 disposals and two goals in his last competitive hitout, and could add to his 11 games in the blue and white stripes.

Finnbar Maley booted three goals of his own in the VFL win over the Swans to keep his name in the frame for a senior debut.

If the coaches plan to tinker with the backline, Kallan Dawson will be under consideration having notched 21 disposals and a game-high 12 intercepts in that match.

Another Clarkson regular in small defender Jackson Archer remains unavailable in his recovery from a hamstring injury, expected to return to play next weekend.
