Harry Sheezel will take no further part in the 2024 season after being ruled out for a second consecutive week due to an ankle issue he picked up against West Coast in Round 22.

"Harry over the course of the back end of last week was slower with his progression and recovery with that ankle injury than how he initially responded," North Melbourne head of performance Kevin White told NMFC Media.

"Although he's tracking more positively today (Tuesday), he is still in a moonboot this week to look after that ankle, but he'll run out of time to pass through clearance to play this weekend."

Young forward Zane Duursma won't be available for selection having recently undergone shoulder surgery.

Duursma, who was taken with the fourth pick of the 2023 National Draft, has played 13 games and booted nine goals in his rookie campaign.

"Zane had been dealing with shoulder instability in the back-half of the year which we were able to manage conservatively in enabling him to still train and play," White said.

"Last week the decision was made off the back of external advice to put him in for shoulder surgery.

"The rehab timeline will be 3-4 months before full contact, but it will enable a strong off-season of focusing on his running fitness and intensity in setting up for a big 2025."

Defensive duo Charlie Comben and Miller Bergman will be out of action, after both suffered concussions in Sunday's loss to the Western Bulldogs.

Comben was subbed out early at Marvel Stadium after a suffering a big hit to the head while going back with the flight of the ball. The 23-year-old also copped a knock to his hip in the same incident which impaired his ability to run but has pulled up well.

Bergman left the field in the third term following a marking contest that saw the No.27 put his body on the line.

"Charlie reported symptoms of concussion and falls into AFL mandated protocols whereby he is not available to play this week," White said.

"He is recovering well, is in good spirits at the club and will reset physically after a strong year of availability and AFL performances.

"Miller was removed from the game and had symptoms of concussion on assessment.

"He's tracking well today and has also been in good spirits in at Arden Street."
