Draftee Georgia Stubs has been ruled out for the 2024 season after suffering a dislocated ankle in North Melbourne’s match sim clash with St Kilda on August 10.

The 19-year-old underwent surgery following the incident and will begin her rehab process in due course.

"It's obviously a serious injury and so unfortunate for her at this early stage in the season," North Melbourne senior AFLW physiotherapist Billy Williams said.

Defender Jasmine Ferguson sustained a concussion in Saturday's practice match against Greater Western Sydney and is "recovering really well" while she completes concussion protocols, Williams said.

Forward Kate Shierlaw missed the hitout against the Giants due to hamstring tightness but is expected to be available for selection for the Kangaroos season opener against Brisbane on September 1.

"We took a conservative approach with Kate and held her back from the match, but we expect her to be fine for our first game of the season," Williams said.

"Our medical staff are guiding 'Ferg' (Jasmine Ferguson) through the concussion protocols and if all goes to plan, she will hopefully also be available for the trip to Brisbane."

Experienced Roos Jenna Bruton (Achilles) and Libby Birch (knee) are both back in main training and are right in the mix for Round 1.

"JB has been fully training with the group and if she ticks off some final hurdles over the next week, she'll be available for Round 1 selection," Williams said.

"Libby is also back to full training and she's achieved all clinical markers ahead of schedule to this point. At this stage we are confident she'll be available to debut for our club against the Lions."

Nicole Bresnehan (hamstring) is now out of rehab after notching minutes against the Giants, but Lulu Pullar (calf) and Eliza Shannon (ankle) will face extended stints on the sidelines, with both slated to return to action in approximately 5-6 weeks.

"Lulu has started a conditioning block which will continue to build out over the next couple of weeks. She will then look to grade back into team training," Williams said.

"Eliza had surgery to stabilise her ankle and has recovered really well post-operation. She'll look to start running at some point this week."
