North Melbourne has left DSV Stadium with the four points, after toppling the finals-bound Williamstown Seagulls by eight points.

The Roos trailed by one point at the half-time break, but a five-goal-to-one third quarter saw the visitors pull away and remain in front until the final siren.

It was a solid display from the Kangas, who ended their two-game skid and kept their slight Wildcard hopes alive.

Back from concussion, Tyler Sellers (two goals, three tackles inside 50) reprised his role as a deep forward and got things going with a strong grab and goal four minutes in.

The Seagulls hit back promptly through Corey Ellison and again through Corey Rich who got on the end of a forward 50 stoppage, but another converted set shot - this time from Charlie Lazzaro - had the Roos on level pegging with the home side after one quarter.

Lazzaro was arguably the most impressive all day for the visitors, dangerous on the attack with 24 touches, 10 score involvements and six inside 50s, and assertive  on the defensive end, leading the tackle count with 13.

The opportunistic Cooper Harvey (10 disposals, four marks) slotted one off the deck just 30 seconds into the second term, and the Roos had another when Kallan Dawson (15 disposals, seven marks) produced a massive spoil which landed in the path of Blake Drury (17 disposals, six inside 50s) who set up Sellers' second.

However, Williamstown began to pepper away inside its forward 50 for the next 20 minutes, but due to the pressure applied by the North Melbourne backline and a goal-saving tackle from Wil Dawson, the Seagulls only mustered 2.6 following Sellers' clean finish. And despite the home side's dominance, a coolly taken set shot by Miller Bergman (16 disposals, eight marks) meant the Roos stayed right in the clash.

The Kangas looked to be on a mission coming out of the main change, and it was Finnbar Maley (two goals, 15 disposals, four contested marks) who finished off a clean passage of play from defensive 50 to the forward line early on.

Not long later, Hugh Greenwood (23 disposals, 12 tackles) neatly sidestepped a defender to slot his first after a quick feed from Charlie Harrop, as the veteran really started to stamp his name on the contest.

Geordie Payne joined the party as the Kangas started to pull away, slotting two consecutive set shots after earning free kicks for a dangerous tackle and holding the ball.

Maley rose and plucked another big grab off a long ball from Louis Butler before slotting his second, and the Roos looked comfortable with a quarter to play. The VFL-listed Butler was impactful in his role behind the ball, tallying 21 touches, 10 marks and seven intercepts.

Lazzaro's skill and speed was again on show at the beginning of the final term, as he set off down the wing with a darting three-bounce run to spot up Lachlan Wynd inside 50.

Wynd couldn't convert, but some crafty work from Harvey minutes later saw the forward find Jack Watkins (26 disposals, five clearances) 30 metres out from goal and the captain made no mistake.

The Seagulls began to mount a comeback and found three gradual majors as time ticked away, but some desperate efforts from Bergman late helped the Roos secure the four points.
