High-flying Kangaroo Curtis Taylor will be grounded for the next month after scans confirmed a calf injury.
Taylor suffered the injury in the first quarter of Saturday's VFL game against Box Hill.
North Melbourne head of performance Kevin White said the midfielder is expected to miss four weeks.
"Curtis had an incident in the first quarter where he felt his calf go after taking off in an acceleration," White told NMFC Media.
"Scans have confirmed a moderate lateral calf strain which still presents sore at this early stage. He will progress his rehab from off-legs to on-field as symptoms clear, with a focus on cross-training and strength across this initial period."
Pre-season recruit Tyler Sellers will be sidelined for a week after suffering concussion symptoms following a collision in the same match.
Sellers was removed from the game after failing concussion testing protocols. He will now complete mandatory concussion protocols, during which he will be unavailable for selection.
Big ruck Hamish Free will remain on the sidelines after reporting delayed concussion symptoms following the VFL team's Round 16 win over Sydney.
Free, who has suffered multiple concussions across the past year, is now reporting reduced symptoms, White said, but will be unavailable to play this weekend.
"Hamish is still in the early phase of his graduated programming due to on-going symptoms last week.
"He is now making improvements with his program and reporting reduced symptoms but will not be available to play this round.
"We will update next week with how Hamish is tracking once he has had this week of increased exercise loading absorbed."
