Defender Zac Fisher will need to prove his fitness later this week if he's to feature against Gold Coast at Marvel Stadium on Saturday.
The 26-year-old was subbed out of the clash against the Western Bulldogs in Round 16 due to a foot issue.
"Zac had an incident where he twisted his foot in the second quarter," North Melbourne head of performance Kevin White told NMFC Media.
"He presented with a midfoot sprain which was sore Sunday but is steadily progressing, so we'll assess his function at the back end of the week to determine his availability."
Onballer George Wardlaw is a week away from returning, having entered AFL concussion protocols following a training incident last Thursday.
"George reported symptoms of dizziness and headache and was assessed by the club doctor (last week)," White said.
"He's progressing well through the AFL guidelines. Hopefully, the silver lining is that we get a refreshed body to finish the year off strongly given the loads of his games this season."
Youngsters Wil Dawson and Blake Drury are also closing in on comebacks. Dawson hasn't featured since sustained an AC joint injury in the Round 13 win over West Coast, while Drury's latest appearance came back in the VFL's Round 13 victory over Coburg.
"Wil has come out of the sling with great strength and range of movement," White said.
"He continues to progress his strength markers which are nearing full capacity and he's put in some high volumes of footy conditioning over the past 10 days.
"He was in main training today (Tuesday), will have game-load conditioning on-field on Saturday and will look to play next week.
"Blake is making great strides in his comeback from that knee injury.
"He's now completed two weeks of high-level conditioning and is progressing his footy function."
Defenders Griffin Logue and Colby McKercher both made it through increased gametime in the VFL over the weekend.
The pair had a light session on Tuesday and will both look to press their case for selection on Thursday during main training.
