Brayden George described the support he has received as "overwhelming" after he suffered a devastating knee injury for the second time in his young career.
George underwent surgery this week to repair the ACL he ruptured in VFL action earlier this month.
"Support has been overwhelming. Will be back kicking the pigskin soon," he posted on Instagram.
Head of performance Kevin White said George would spend the next period of his rehab resting at home.
"He is well versed on the course of rehab for this injury and will attack this stint in the same diligent manner that he has previously," White told NMFC Media.
Meanwhile Griffin Logue and Colby McKercher are closer to their AFL returns after emerging unscathed from their VFL outings on Sunday.
Logue is expected to increase his game load this weekend after playing three quarters in the reserves' win over Casey Demons on his return from an ACL injury. He finished the day with an off-field conditioning block.
McKercher also played restricted game time following a five-week lay-off due to bone stress in his foot.
"He played capped game loading with the aim to maximise intensity and work rate in three quarters of football," White said.
"Over the coming weeks, Colby’s training loads will be modified and game load metrics progressively increased to enable his foot to adapt."
Defender Toby Pink faces a test for Saturday's game against the Western Bulldogs after rolling his ankle during last weekend's three-point loss against Melbourne at the MCG.
White said the injury was moderate, suffered in landing from a marking contest.
"His ankle was swollen post-game but has been trending well the past 48 hours. He will be off legs early this week and test in main training on Thursday."

BUY NOWThe news is positive for sidelined youngsters Blake Drury (MCL) and Wil Dawson (AC joint), who are both on track to return after the VFL team's bye in mid-July.
Drury is "making great progress", White said.
"He has now completed four running sessions and will progress into agility this week. Next week he will increase football function and select training drills as he then prepares to return.
"Wil comes out of the sling this week, that AC joint recovering well off the surgery in terms of stability. He will progress through a two-week block of progressive strength and conditioning in a bid to return to play after the VFL bye."
Callum Coleman-Jones and Josh Goater are making steady progress as they continue their from their season-ending Achilles injuries.
"Both Josh and Callum are ... gaining strength and bulk through their calf muscle on the affected side of their Achilles injury. This will provide a strong platform to build upon in laying good foundations for their [next] phase of rehab," White said.
Kallan Dawson will be available for selection this week after he completed his one-match suspension for striking Collingwood's Jack Crisp.
