North Melbourne is set to take on Essendon this Sunday at Arden Street Oval in its inaugural VFLW finals appearance.

The Roos and Dons, who finished fourth and fifth on the ladder respectively, will battle in an elimination final as they meet for the second time this year.

It was North Melbourne that triumphed convincingly back in Round 9, winning 10.9 (69) to 0.3 (3) on its home turf.

AFL Head of State League Competitions Jennie Loughnan said the 2024 rebel VFLW Finals Series would feature six teams all capable of going on to win the premiership.

"We experienced another very competitive rebel VFLW home and away season and now have six deserving teams playing in the finals where we know any team can win on the day," Loughnan said.

"Given the very even nature of the home and away season, we cannot wait to see what unfolds during the 2024 rebel VFLW Finals Series.

"Congratulations to Williamstown, Western Bulldogs, Box Hill Hawks, North Melbourne, Essendon and Port Melbourne on advancing to the finals and we wish all six clubs the best of luck in their pursuit of the premiership.

"On behalf of the AFL, I would like to thank all clubs, players, umpires, venues and our broadcast and commercial partners for their outstanding support of the rebel VFLW in 2024."
