Bringing the same intensity and drive that saw them triumph in the west will be Sunday's goal for the Roos, who'll be out to pick up back-to-back wins for the first time since the opening two matches of 2023.

They'll challenge a Collingwood outfit that is building nicely despite having several impactful players unavailable due to injury.

Round 14, North Melbourne v Collingwood
Where: Marvel Stadium, Docklands, VIC
When: Sunday, June 16 at 1pm AEST
How to watch: Foxtel, Kayo Sports

The opposition

The Pies shed the Demons in a relatively simple fashion in the annual King's Birthday clash, climbing to sixth on the ladder with a record of 7-4-2.

A three-goal-to-none opening quarter laid the foundation for Collingwood, which was led to a 38-point victory by Josh Daicos (34 disposals, 10 marks), Jack Crisp (27 disposals, nine inside 50s) and Jeremy Howe (24 disposals, eight marks).

Star onballer Nick Daicos is under an injury cloud, however, after picking up two separate corks to his left shin on Monday and is a chance to miss the club's visit to Marvel Stadium.

What the coaches have said

North Melbourne senior coach Alastair Clarkson, post-game v West Coast: "(The win) was full of heart and spirit. A lot of the stats that we were searching for around pressure, contested ball, clearances and those sorts of numbers were really good over the course of the day, even in the fourth quarter."

01:42

Collingwood senior coach Craig McRae, post-game v Melbourne: "We've been fighting, and we've maybe been not quite good enough here and there in the last few games. Today was a better four-quarter performance from some of those younger guys, and the senior guys kept the glue together a bit more."

Running hot

Jy Simpkin

The co-captain was at his inspirational best in Western Australia, setting the tone for the win with his attack on the ball in the early stages, before wrenching back the lead with a calmly taken set shot with two minutes left in the fourth.

His 28-disposal and two-goal outing was his performance of the season so far – one that has been heavily interrupted by injury.

The two-time best and fairest winner earned 10 coaches' votes for his efforts and will be eager to back it up against the Pies at home.

Last time we met

It was Collingwood's day when the two clubs last clashed, with the Pies taking home a 35-point victory in Round 11, 2023.

While the game looked all but over at three-quarter time, the Roos found a spark in the final term and registered six goals to Collingwood's three for the period.

Nick Larkey booted five on what was a path towards an All-Australian blazer, while Bailey Scott and Will Phillips notched 30 and 29 disposals respectively.
