North Melbourne added two new recruits last week, welcoming Geordie Payne and Brynn Teakle in the 2024 AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft.
Here's what they'll be wearing as they launch their Kangaroo careers.
Geordie Payne - 23
Payne will take on the number most recently worn by key defender Ben McKay, who departed the club in last year's free agency period. McKay played 71 games for the Kangaroos after arriving at Arden Street in the 2015 AFL Draft.
Among the famous wearers of number 23 in North Melbourne's history is senior coach Alastair Clarkson. Clarkson played 93 games for the club between 1987-95, playing mainly as a half-forward and kicking 61 goals.
Full-back David Dench won two premierships in the guernsey in the 1970s. An explosive defender, Dench played 275 games for the Roos, earning legend status in the club's Hall of Fame.
Brynn Teakle - 43
Teakle inherits the number last worn by running defender Aaron Hall, who announced his retirement last year after 12 seasons across two clubs. He spent five seasons at Arden Street, playing 58 games in the royal blue and white.
Hall's longevity in the guernsey is topped only by Sam Gibson, who was already 25 when he was drafted as a mature-age recruit in 2011. The hard-running Gibson went on to play 130 games for the club, and he played important roles in the club's memorable finals runs in 2014-15. In a testament to his incredible fitness and durability, his 130 games were consecutive.
