North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos defender Erika O'Shea has signed a new two-year deal, tying her to the club until at least the end of 2025.

Hailing from Cork, Ireland, O’Shea arrived at Arden Street in 2022 ahead of AFLW Season 7 as one of the most exciting talents to emerge from Gaelic football in recent years.

The 21-year-old thrived on and off the field in her new environment, swiftly adapting to Australian Football while injecting a buzz of energy into the Arden Street facilities.

She played every game of the home and away season, settling off half-back before a blow to the eye in Round 10 heartbreakingly saw her miss the finals series.

Named the club's best young player on the back of her debut campaign, O'Shea has been a mainstay of the Kangaroos line-up again in 2023, featuring in every game so far and preparing to play her first AFLW final on Sunday.

North Melbourne AFLW list manager Flynn Loft said O'Shea has become an important part of the team's defence.

"We are excited to have Erika extend her stay at Arden Street," Loft said.

"She has been one of our biggest improvers this season and become an important part of our defence with her speed and endurance off half-back, as well as a popular figure around the club."

"She is always determined to learn and find ways she can improve her game, and we look forward to watching her continue her development at the club over the next two years."
