For 30 young Huddle participants, catching waves and feeling the sand between their toes was the highlight of the holiday period.
In its fourth successive year, The Anglesea Water Safety & Surfing excursion taught participants from culturally diverse backgrounds the fundamentals of water safety.
Thanks to The Huddle, Anglesea SLC and Go Ride a Wave, there were smiles were from ear to ear as the group visited the Anglesea Surf Lifesaving Club, before learning the art of surfing at Urquhart Bluff.
A few days later, another group of The Huddle’s participants was lucky enough to check out the outdoor courts at the Australian Open.
All thanks to some good friends at Tennis Victoria, the youths visited the AO Ballpark, where they put their own skills to the test, followed by an afternoon watching some doubles tennis.
Code it & Kick was the last of The Huddle’s school holiday programs. Held at Arden St, participants engaged in a three-day program where they learnt the fundamentals of coding and designing their own graphics and video games.
The second half of the program was run by North Melbourne’s Sport & Rec team who coached AFL and soccer skills on the football oval. Supported by some excellent weather, participants enjoyed the chance to learn and work on their skill sets, on and off the field.
