Dear Member,

I am writing to advise you of another exciting development concerning your Club.

Your Board has commenced a review of the current corporate structure of the Club with a view to simplifying that structure to take the Club forward in 2009 and beyond.

The Club currently has a complex structure with both members and shareholders. This structure leads to groups with different rights and interests in our Club, which can detract from the unity that is required to focus the Club’s attention on successfully competing for our next premiership. This structure is also out of step with that adopted by other Clubs in the AFL competition.

The Board is developing a proposal that it hopes will bring the following advantages to the Club and its members:

- offering a simplified membership structure, without the potentially different rights and interests of shareholders and members which require the Board to consider each separately when considering all corporate actions;

- ensuring that all members have an equal vote in the Club’s decisions; and

removing concerns that the AFL has regarding our current structure.

The Board is advanced in its deliberations and has commenced high level discussions with the AFL to ascertain the AFL’s support for this proposal.

Further Information

Your Board is confident that we will be able to provide you with further detail on the Board’s preferred approach in the coming weeks. Once we provide you with that detail, we will convene a number of member and shareholder briefing sessions during August to explain the proposal to you and to seek your feedback and support for the proposal.

Whatever the outcome of the Board’s deliberations, any change to the current structure will require a vote of both members and shareholders. Accordingly, the ultimate decision on any new structure for the Club will be made by you.

Your Board is keen to ensure that all members and shareholders are provided with information regarding this important proposal, you should ensure that if any of your contact details have changed recently, that you let us know.
