North Melbourne midfielder Luke Davies-Uniacke is on track for Good Friday's SuperClash after missing last weekend's match due to calf tightness.

The No.9 was a late withdrawal prior to the hitout with Hawthorn, after sustaining a deep corkie in the Round 2 match against Fremantle.

"Last Tuesday, he had a light session on field just to flush out, on Thursday he was at 80 per cent speed which was a marker that we set him for that day (and) given the fact he had 48 hours more before the game would start, we would allow him right up until game time to be able to hit 100 per cent with his speed, acceleration and function," head of performance Kevin White said.

"This was the area that just let Luke down. He didn't have full acceleration, he couldn't get above 80 per cent and he felt like obviously his whole game being based off his drive acceleration and power, that he'd be basically useless out there and letting the team down.

"He fully trained this morning and hit his speed markers, so providing he pulls up all right over the next 24 hours he'll be clear to play this week."

Ruck/key forward Callum Coleman-Jones has been given the green light to return to action after recovering from a slight plantar fascia tear.

The former Tiger hasn't taken the field since February, when he sustained the injury in a VFL practice match.

"Great news for (Coleman-Jones), he's going to return this week," White said.

"He fast-tracked his recovery by about two weeks, just purely for the diligence and professionalism around his rehab program.

"He had two and a half weeks with 'Crossy' (rehabilitation coach Daniel Cross) in the reconditioning space and has reintegrated back into main training as of last week.

"He had a big session on the weekend and (will) main train and play this week so (it's a) great result."

Key defender Ben McKay is on the verge of making a comeback having progressed through the bulk of his bone stress rehab.

While he'll miss this Friday's game against Carlton and his brother Harry, White is confident that McKay will be up for selection next week.

"He'll go through a Saturday session again with 'Crossy' this weekend in terms of his conditioning," White mentioned.

"He'll merge with the main group next week and train to be available for selection next week, too."

Young midfielder George Wardlaw is building continuity and confidence through extended game time now through the VFL.

The No.4 draft selection played an important role in North Melbourne's VFL side's first win of the season on Saturday, gathering 24 disposals, six clearances and six tackles in the defeat of Southport.

"What we will do off the back of this six-day turn around is just manage his loads during the week so that we can extend his game time with his third game back," White said.

"The pleasing thing is he's performing really well and he's feeling really good, and on top of that (he's) pulling up well post-session, so great start from 'Georgie' back in it again."

Ruckman Tristan Xerri underwent surgery two weeks ago for his high-grade ankle syndesmosis injury, and is a while off from getting back into any conditioning.

"At the minute, it's still early phase with that wound assessment so it's just being mindful that he doesn't get an infection in that which the Doctor is all over," White said.

"It's probably another two to three weeks now before he starts to progress into some off-legs conditioning and from that point hopefully we can provide a timeline of an estimation of when we think that he'll be tracking for training and on-field preparation again."
