Brad Scott flagged big changes after North’s horrible loss to Collingwood and the language out of Arden Street hasn’t altered.

Director of Football Geoff Walsh added his weight to the argument that players should be held accountable for giving up a 39-point half-time lead.

“You would want to see a better response and if that starts at the selection table then yeah, so be it,” Walsh told SEN.

“If you don’t perform or you don’t measure up, there’s consequences and they start at the selection table.”

The Roos looked like bystander as the Pies slammed through nine unanswered goals in the third term at the MCG and Walsh said the effort was not good enough and won’t be tolerated.

“Sunday’s loss and the manner of the loss is not something you want to be associated with as a trademark of your team and I’m sure the players echo that and they know the responsibility that goes with playing AFL footy.”

Walsh said there’ll be some thorough soul-searching this week as the club works to pin-point the cause for its embarrassing fade-outs and drubbings.

“It’s not a talent thing…I think it requires a bit more of a digging into the mental side of the game and we need to examine why is it that we can give up a lead…why is it that we’ve had 60-point-plus losses three times this year.

“They’re significant questions and I don’t think lack of talent is the answer.”
