North picked up a comfortable 40-point win over Collingwood on Friday night in an important contest for AFL Fantasy coaches.
Hearts were in mouths pre-game as Daniel Wells was nearly a late withdrawal after an injury in the warm up, but he took the field and dominated.
Wells finished with 105 points and immediately showed the injury was nothing to worry about with a 36-point first quarter.
Here’s Footy Prophet’s Fantasy Five for this week.
1. Brent Harvey ($423,900, FWD/MID)
Brent Harvey equalled the all-time games record in style, picking up 91 points. Boomer collected 25 disposals, two marks and two goals on his way to a very handy score. It’s amazing to think that a player who’s about to break the all-time games record is still a viable fantasy player, even at his age. His price makes him tempting too.
2. Ryan Clarke ($236,400 MID)
After two scores in the 60s, Clarke pulled out his best game to date with 81 points on Friday night. Finishing with 27 disposals got him to the larger score, but 19 handballs restricted what could have been his first 100. Regardless, it would’ve been a smart move to trade him in last week before his price got too high. However, he’s still good value depending on how long he can hold his spot in the side.
3. Trent Dumont ($355,700, MID)
Dumont matched Clarke’s performance, also finishing with 81 points in a strong game for the young midfielder. He’s averaged 85 points in his last four games and really shown that he may be a fantasy player of the future. He got the job done with six tackles and two goals to go with 15 disposals.
4. Ben Brown ($372,800, FWD)
After one of the biggest scores of his career last week, Brown finished with a total of 61 this week. Brown’s price has jumped up after a couple of good scores in a row, but like most key forwards, they struggle to score consistently when it comes to fantasy points and that makes them difficult to pick.
5. Majak Daw ($318,200, FWD/RUC)
Daw came in for his fourth game of the season and after two scores over 80, some believed he may be a viable fantasy option. Unfortunately, he only scored 55 on Friday night and struggled late in the game after a strong third quarter. Five tackles helped get his score to something respectable, but playing mostly forward didn’t allow him to reach the numbers he’s been capable of at times this year.
