NORTH Melbourne looks set to select one of Geelong Falcons products Ben Cunnington or Gary Rohan with its first pick in this month's NAB AFL Draft.

The Kangaroos enter the draft at No.5 with their decision to obviously dictate the Sydney Swans' predicament at No.6. The two players are strongly expected to be claimed at this point.

However, with 21 days remaining until the draft, Cunnington appears more likely to be drafted before Rohan.

Recruiters speak highly of Cunnington's kamikaze-like approach to the game and Rohan as a talent-laden half-forward/midfielder with plenty of upside for further development.

In the past two drafts, key 50-50 scenarios have taken place in the top 10.

In 2007, speculation mounted over which way picks six (Essendon) and seven (Fremantle) would go with Rhys Palmer and David Myers certain for those selections. As it eventuated, the Bombers took Myers and Freo nabbed Palmer.

Last year, Fremantle was also involved in an intriguing selection at No.3.

Daniel Rich was strongly tipped to head to Fremantle, until another West Australian Stephen Hill emerged in the build-up.

Just days out from the draft, it was confirmed that Freo would pick Hill while Rich slipped to the Brisbane Lions at No.7.
