Scott McMahon could be excused if his mind wasn’t quite on the job during his first day back at Arden Street on Wednesday. After all, the 23 year-old has had a busy past few weeks which included a wedding and honeymoon.

“I stepped off the plane from our honeymoon on Tuesday and here I am, back at training,” he told kangaroos.com.au.

“It’s been a bit of a whirlwind.”

McMahon wed Desiree Szlazak at home in South Australia at St Mary’s church not far from the Adelaide Oval.

“It was a perfect day. Everything ran smoothly and as planned. My younger brother Layton was my best man and he remembered the wedding rings which was a good start.”

“I was more nervous about making my speech at the reception than the actual ceremony. Desiree looked amazing though when she walked down the aisle.”

Ed Lower, Alan Obst, Lindsay Thomas and Shannon Watt all attended the big day and joined McMahon and another 90 guests for the reception at the Wine Centre off North Terrace.

“It was a great day and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone cry as much as our mums did.”

The newlyweds enjoyed a week on the Cook Islands before McMahon was brought back to reality with pre-season training.

“It was a pretty light session for me. I was able to ease my way back into things. I did a fair bit of running and some skills but nothing too demanding.”

“I’m really looking forward to the next few months with Brad now in charge and the new facility nearly ready for us to move in. It’s a pretty exciting time.”
